Rough running only first thing in the morning

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I have a Dodge Caravan 3.3 2003 that runs rough for 5-30 seconds first thing in the
day. Then it starts and runs fine for the rest of the day. It went into the garage for this
fault and they found that the inlet manifold was leaking so replaced the gasket. It runs
much smoother now during the day but with the same rough start. The garage
checked the compression for head gasket (fine) and the spark plugs and HT leads
which were fine too. They say it is now a process of replacing things. Does anyone
have any ideas what it could be. Any help would be great thanks.

Sorry to sound dumb but could you point me to a picture of where that is? Thanks
Thanks heaps for that. I really appreciate your help :)
You are welcome, glad i could help.
Is this to fix a sticking butterfly on the intake and or sticking solenoid on the IAC?
Remove the iac and clean it,all so,butterfly can be cleaned with carb cleaner.
The only other thing you may check would be the EGR valve may be bad.
Any problem with carb cleaner going through the butterfly to the other side.
No,want hurt it,spray it good, car not running, then wait a little before cranking, should help that early morning cough it has.
Something I did not mention is that the roughness continues even when you rev the engine which would negate the IAC I would have thought. So maybe not the IAC?
Make sure you check the injector harness which plugs in by the ignition coils as they are prone to meting... Believe me It took me a month googling and it was as simple as that. 6 inches of each wire was melted and arcing between each other. I then hot glued each wire to coat it and then put black electrical tape over each. Van now runs like new again.... No sensors... I'm just saying... Start with the basics and check the harness where it plugs into the main harness. Dodge put it right above the exhaust and should have put it up a foot higher. I zipped tied mine after up higher...
