Should my Durango stay in AWD when driving to and from the city?

"N" means that the differential is in neutral. You should probably make sure it is in 2 wheel drive if you're driving to and from town. And yes, it does get a LOT better gas mileage when not in 4X4. Plus, that could really damage your vehicle's drivetrain as well.
with the way they are built now i doesn't really matter... you can drive in four or two nothing is going to happen/.... take care
Your truck is AWD which means it's always sending power to all 4 wheels. There is no 2wd option for you
If you put in "N" your Durangp will not move
I have a 2000 Durango and have it in "N" most of the the time the only time I have ever put it in 4x4 is in the worst snow storm we had this past winter just to be safe. I have found that gas mileage is great
The Durango is an Al Wheel drive vehicle when you put in AWD it is powered by the rear wheel but if you need more grip it will automatically start to use the front wheels along with the rear wheels. If you put it in N then you won´t move at all since that means neutral on the Transfer case that dived's the power from the transmission to the wheels. In 4WD you lock the transfer case so it is always using front and rear but if you use that on paved roads you will damage the diffs or/and the T-case. 4WD low is used when you need to get up steep hills or when you are towing very heavy objects but again not to been used on hard surfaces only in snow, gravel, mud, sand or Grass or you will damage the truck.
my 2005 has only two options, AWD or 4WD What is the difference in these options ?
Una pregunta mi durango 2005 sólo tiene 2 modos de manejo uno es ( awd y 4clock ) pero nose para que sirve el 4clock

John-you will have a switch on the right side of the dash under the vent that says '4WD, 4WD Lock and 4 WD Low'.
I have a 2000 Durango AWD. I broke my cv axle. Have to drive it in 4Hi temp otherwise it makes a really bad noise from that side. I'm not using highway. Only in town which only goes to like 40-50 max at some points. Otherwise it's only 30mph. My question is how long can I go at that speed in 4Hi? It's not over reving. Shifting normally. No sounds. NEED HELP ASAP! I don't want to mess more shit up. But only do so much til next week

I have a 2004 dodge durango with awd,4lock,4lo. So what do i drive in? Thank you
If you have a awd rig then it won't go into two wheel drive wow people
Well kinda. Awd mostly is two wheel drive unless you begin to lose traction. Simply put..... If you have an awd vehicle.... Awd IS your 2wd. Only use 4wd for really treacherous shit or if you're stuck.

I have a 2002 durango R/T with the 5.9. Mine has the option for all wheel drive, 4 wheel high, and 4 low. So I have no choice but to be in one of those. Was in all wheel drive going down the road and all of a sudden its like I had no drive train. Stuck it in neutral and put it in four high and it drives good. Would it be the all wheel drive actuator making it do that?

Bunch of morons. AWD means you have 4x4 all the time. You cant take it out. You can't shift into 4x4. It's already there it's either forward for 4hi, middle "N" which you wont move at all, and 4low. That's it pop pretty simple.
Pajero. You are not accurate. Awd is a form of 4wd yes but in the case of the Durango awd/4wd setting there is a difference. Awd is general normal running setting. 4wd is if you are stuck and the limited slip differentials are not allowing enough traction to get unstuck you go into 4wd. This locks the differentials cases together to make all tires turn evenly meaning even if 2 tires are in the air the other 2 will keep the vehicle moving until a more stable surface is reached. The only morons here are those calling others morons and not explaining it out
I have a 2019 awd durango and there is no button that says awd high or low the dealer told me to take traction control off when needing to use it. I used it last year in jersey snow and the thing was all over the road! What is causing this?
