2012 Mercedes c250 Engine Light comes on and car wont accelerate
Asked by Marc Feb 02, 2017 at 12:38 PM about the 2012 Mercedes-Benz C-Class C 250 Sport
Question type: Maintenance & Repair
When driving my 2012 Mercedes c250 at normal speeds
the car will all of a sudden jerk almost like you tapped the
brakes but you didn't and then the Engine light comes on
and the car wont accelerate over 15 to 20 mph. You can
hold the gas pedal to the floor and nothing happens. You
then have to pull over to the side of the road and turn the
car off. After a few seconds you turn the car back on and
you can again accelerate however the engine light stays on.
The engine light will usually go off after a day or so. This
same thing is now happening about ever other day. I am
very worried that I am going to be on the highway going 65
mph and this issue is going to happen which could cause a
really bad accident. Does anyone know what the problem
is and what I need to do to get corrected? Please any help
would be extremely appreciated.

It sounds like your car is going into Limp Mode due to a serious problem. Get the OBD2 codes read and post them here and we will try to help. I believe Auto Zone and other car parts stores will read the codes for free.
I personally have a C250 and it has happened to me twice and it seems if you drive the car for a long period of time or accelerate sharply the car will simply decide to "Take a lunch break" turning off and on from a standstill should solve the problem, if not a scanner is what'd I'd recommend.
Do you fix the problem I would like to know how you fix it’s happening to me
I have same problem and I don't know what happened

P0002 and P0303 2014 C250 Fixed I've been driving my car around for a year with an intermittent p0002 code. As discussed the car would go into limp mode, shut it off restart it then it runs. I also have utilized S Mode continuously to minimize the issue. I recently got p0303 code indicating a misfire on the 3rd cylinder. I went ahead and replaced all four spark plugs and checked the ignition coils and found that the 3rd cylinder ignition coil was corroded as well as the spark plug. I replaced the 3rd cylinder ignition coil and it seems to have resolved both issues. The car runs like new. I can hit the accelerator and not risk going into limp mode. The spark plugs are easily accessed and this repair can be completed by most anyone. There are videos on YouTube with this specific model. I am including a photo of the corroded ignition coil.
I also have my Mercedes doing the same. It is puttering along. Engine light comes on and this is the code that came up.
Btrthanterrific im having the exact same issues now omfg please help i paid some bum $700 dollars to do a tune up which i dont think he really did it ima have another mechanic check today the exact p0002 code came up omg

If the car gets p0002 and running it in S mode prevents the problem, it may be fixed by a firmware upgrade. If the code occurred regardless of driving mode, it could be low pressure fuel pump, high pressure fuel pump, or fuel filter. All are expensive propositions.
my engine light when on c 250 drives normal no problems ?
the code they gave me was p0705. transmission sensor

Hello C250 mb 2015. Had a code of p0303. I replaced all 4 plugs Still reads misfire p0303 car shaking. I moved plugs around and now reads no 2 misfire plus 3 has coil issue. I bought a coil Car worked fine for a day. Then it started shaking. I moved coils around. Car worked fine then later in day started shaking. What else could it be Still reads 2 and 3 What else can I do. Car only has 47000 miles
I'm having trouble with my Mecedes-Benz C250 2012 And my mechanic replaced the coil and he said if the car is running rough & engine light in again, you need to bring it because your engine wiring harness is bad. The big one connected to the cylinder and the engine computer that had 20 plugs. So my car is running good for now! Just waiting for the next problem. So, I have to save $1400 for the next service. Good luck!
