What to do if there is no sound coming out of the speakers of my car

Check your fuses, If you have a amplifier that fuse in particular

Just had the same issue today in our 2013 Sportage. There's a reset button to the right of the CD slot. Use a small point tip to hit the reset button & should get your sound back.
Thank you so much for this post. My 2013 Sportage had the same issue this morning - NO sound. Long drive into work with no radio. I found your post and went out and tried it and my radio sound is back!!!! Thanks bunches.
My 2013 Sportage also has no sound, the radio resets itself and clock reset themselves. Fuses were checked and that's not the issue. King Kia in Gaithersburg, MD ordered a radio two weeks ago because they think that's the answer. Unfortunately radios are on back order and King Kia has no idea when it will arrive. :-(
How much to replace speakers?
Joaniewalsh answered 9 years ago
Had same problem used reset button and sound is working. Awesome.
I took my 2011 Kia Sportage to the dealer due to no sound and they told me I needed a new radio. Tried the reset button today and my sound is back. Why does the Kia dealership not know this.
Same think happened today to my 2014 Sorento. Went out to vehicle and located the tiny hole to the right of the CD player, used a tiny Allen wrench to press reset and BAM my radio is back in business. Thanks a bunch for the help. Good luck to all!!!!!!!!!!
Hit the reset button but nothing. Attempting to find an amp since the speakers check out. Any suggestions on replacing the amp?
Wow the reset button really worked. Thank you for that info. I really didn't want to take it to the dealers and they charge me.
hi 2012 sportage. where is the reset button? can't find on the radio itself.
Debby is your radio with navigation or do you have the UVO?
No nav. Standard radio. What is uvo?
Your right Debby, I did not see a reset button on the standard radio either. UVO is the next upgraded radio in the Kia's. Does a little more stuff, such as touch screen and something called Jukebox. But reading from another forums, they were saying to disconnect your battery cables front under the hood for at least a minute. Reconnect and that should reset basically the whole car. Try that step and see what happens.

Had same problem, reset worked. Thanks, never even knew that was a reset button. Only lost radio presets, expected to lose addresses programmed into GPS too.
FANTASTIC!!!!! "There's a reset button to the right of the CD slot. Use a small point tip to hit the reset button & should get your sound back." I just did it! IT WORKS!!!!!!
Held reset down for about second and didn't work. Then I held it down for about ten seconds and it worked! Only lost presets. Thanks
Reset button did the trick for me too! Beaver me a trip to the dealer. Thank you Car Gurus
Cant see the reset button on this..same problem no sound...

My 2012 Kia Sportage doesn't have the reset button. I disconnected the battery, but only the clock lost 3 minutes. Nothing was reset. Should I have disconnected for a longer period? Any other way to reset the radio? Thomas

I have been having the sound problem since Saturday night. I thought it was just my system warming up from the cold since I drove for hardly a minute but then then Sunday it worked fine but not today, Monday, I have nothing. I tried factory reset I tried the little button nothing. The manual has no help and something I've noticed is it always goes back to the same radio station when I turn it on. But no sound for the radio, my aux, my jukebox, or my CD's. nothing's working and I'm starting to get frustrated. Does anyone know something I can do short of going to my dealership?
thomask1965 answered 8 years ago
Did you change your battery or disconnect it recently?
Prettydays answered 8 years ago
No everything was working fine and then it went kaput
Huayra_132 answered 8 years ago
After I hit the reset button, this later started to happen again and then everything "went kaput". Took it back to Kia service dept., and he informed me that the amplifier got fried and would need to be replaced. Got it replaced and everything has been back to normal for the last 2 years. I will warn you, though, that this replacement is costly since it's a factory amp. I did find some of these factory amps on Amazon (and E-Bay) and they were MUCH cheaper than expected.
Having same issue with sound tried fuses tried reset done reboot on uvo touch screen tried battery cable ....nothing have appt today at 1 and of coarse it not warranty 36000 im at 47000 anyone know the cost of resolving this issue
Huayra_132 answered 8 years ago
Luckily had extra insurance that covered the cost for amp replacement. Found my bill, and it said almost $500 for the amp and another $200 - $300 for labor for installation.....this was AT the dealer btw.
Thank you i carried to the dealership as well they told me upwards of 1000$ rediculous !time for a trade in but will not be kia they didnt have parts and was still unsure of what the problen was said he yhought it was computer since they are powered by microsoft

I really think they need to recall all of their radios if this is a constant problem that has been going on for years. It makes absolutely no sense why the radios are doing this. I think if I have another problem, I'm just gonna replace the whole radio from some where else.
I had the same thing happen on my 2012 kia Sportage. Uvo radio with backup camera. No sound from the radio first. Then the radio wouldn't hold presets and time. Checked fuses, disconnecting the batterty and tried reset button. Nothing worked. Dealer said radio needed replaced. Put in a used radio. Everything works on it but the sound. Does anyone know if this radio would need programmed at the dealer?
Thank you reset button worked!
Where is the reset button on the 2011 kia ?? Does any one know
Valarie8969 answered 8 years ago
I've been without my radio for a couple of weeks now, while in the mean time trying different things hoping my sound will somehow come back. I finally googled my issue and ran across this site. My son and I just had to run out in the pouring rain at 11 pm to try it. Lol. Low and behold it worked. Awesome!!!! Thank you for sharing. :) Thank you. :)
Just had the same problem, took it to the dealer and they were gonna charged me 800 dollars to take out the unit and send it in to be repaired. Found this site, went to the garage and reset the reset button and everything is working great...thank you all.
The reset button didn't work for me, so I sent the amplifier to United Radio Service in East Syracuse, NY and they fixed it for $225.

2012 Sportage UVO no nav 39k miles. No sound from speakers. I replaced my amp. actually just the board (simple to do) and only costs $100. The reset did not work, the new amp did not fix it. Took it to the dealership, they could not find the problem. They said a new harness is $1500, labor about $700. Next I am going to check my speakers. I went to a local stereo shop. They said for $1500 they could install an awesome stereo system with navigation and backup camera. I decided to trade in my Sportage. I called Kia corporate they were going to help me but my local dealership would not. So I will never purchase a Kia product again. 39k miles car still looks new, always taken care of. :(
Can't find reset on 2011 kia shortage I see the pic from yr ago but don't see ans
The sound on my 2013 Kia Soul just went out for no apparent reason today. Looked everywhere for a reset button but my radio model does not come with one. But dug through the manual and saw that the radio could be reset by pressing the "FM/AM" and "MAP VOICE" buttons simultaneously for over 10 seconds. And it worked! Lost my pre-sets but sound is back on.

Reset button just worked on my wife's 2011 Kia Sportage! Thanks.
I can't find the reset button. Please help 2013 sportage kia
The reset button worked for me! Mine is located to the right of the volume knob (about 2 o'clock) on my 2011 Kia Sorrento.
Had not been able to use the radio for a couple of weeks in my 2011 Kia Sportage, just went out and tried the reset button and it worked!!! Thanks so much for the info.
The reset button on my UVO is on the lower right. Sportage 2012. I pressed it. Waited about 30 seconds and it reset. Works great now. Thanks for the tip.
Hi, I have the same problem (no sound) where is the reset button in Kia Sportage 2014? I can't find it
folks I am being nice when I say that the reset works for awhile. you will find that kia produced a low cost manufacturer amp that is not suitable for the UVO system its intended to drive. you may reset, good only a few times before the amp packs it in. my people, I was quoted 1800 Canadian for replacement for this mallard amp. I removed the UVO that doesn't hold memory nor do as it should and installed an aftermarket JVC Deck with Bluetooth link, Sirius radio and all the bells and whistles. thanx to KIA and undefined stupidity they close looped the speakers with sub through theyre crappy amp. so I still have no speakers. MY QUESTION IS, WHEN ISOLATING THEYRE CRAPPY AMP IS THERE NOT A HARNESS IMPOSED TO BYPASS THE AMP AND ENERGIZE THE SPEAKERS OFF A SELF AMPLIFIED DECK. not stupid, but a little concerned with idiots in manufacturing these systems
There is no reset button in my 2013 KIA...
I have done extensive research on this issue as a friend of mine asked me to have a look into his sportage with no sound, I have spoken to engineers who designed some of the components inside this amp and may have a potential fix, I will try it out and let you know, if all goes well, I will happily repair amps at a fee (much less than a new one)
on the 2012 kia sportage EX the radio reset button is by the tuning knob hold 10 seconds worked
2017 Kia Sportage 7" touchscreen multimedia (no CD player) and today March 13 the sound went dead. Everything else working but no sound output. Solution was to hit the factory reset option turn ACC off and then restart car to full sound booming out again :)
My girlfriends Kia had this problem.. she took the Sorrento to the dealership and of course they want to sell her a new radio/ vehicle, I was able to swoop in like superman after reading this post. THE RESET WORKED. Addresses remained, but preset radio stations lost.
Reset button worked for me too. I have a 2011 Sportage with the NAV unit. The button is to the right of the CD slot, under the MP3 mark. I thought it might be a tiny LED, but when I looked closer I saw it was a button. I pressed it for ~ 10 seconds. The screen went black right away, and stayed black when I released the button. I turned off the key, and then back on to the ACC position. Then I turned on the radio and it worked! I lost all my preset stations... good thing I took pictures of all the presets just before resetting.
(Follow-up from GuruY6RKR post above) Before I knew to try the reset button, I checked if signal was getting to the amp in the back of the car by the subwoofer, and SIGNAL WAS getting to the amp. The amp had power, SPDIF audio data, the ACC line was high, and there was CAN data too. So, I was pretty sure the amp was dead :-( Nope, the amp is fine now (and probably always was). But with all the signals getting to the AMP, I have no idea why resetting the NAV head in the dash would fix it. Morale of the story is, Always Search The Internet For The Answer Before Taking Your Car Apart (or shopping for a new amplifier).
I have a 2014 Forte. I can't find the reset button
Just had this problem today with no noise out of speakers, checked various sites to find answer, checked fuses and checked but no reset button, in the end took off neutral on battery for 10 minutes, tried again and now have speakers back on, its known as major reset,
I have a 2000 kia sport and the sound just quit a couple weeks ago. I have an aftermarket Bluetooth radio and a 10 inch sub. All the fuses have been checked and I replaced the aftermarket radio also. I found this forum and read all the posts. I don't have a reset button so that's not an option. I'm wondering what could cause this....any ideas???
I've been having trouble out of my 2011 sportage radio for months. Sound works but repeatedly tells me to pair a phone or just won't turn on at all. No visible reset button and no money for repairs at the moment. Am I just screwed? I can't find anyone else having my specific issues

*****EVERYONE NEEDS TO UPDATE THE SOFTWARE ON THEIR RADIO***** GO TO https://kia.oemdtc.com/245/uvo-software-upgrade-2013-kia-rio
The reason there's no bypass plug available to bypass the factory amp is because the radio isn't sending speaker level output to the amp. This is a can bus system which just sends data. You can, however catch the speaker wires at the amplifier and put your own amp in if going aftermarket with a new radio. You're going to have to use the factory amp with the factory radio. That's just the way it is...
This worked for my 2013 Kia Sportage... the reset button wasn’t near the CD player it was located Under the screen of the radio near the cat. Button. Used a Bobby pin to push in and everything came back on! I love the internet today!!

I have 2011 Kia Sportage sx. Hit reset button and now the sound is back on. It’s to the right of the CD slot.. doesn’t look like a button but it is. With the car on, radio screen on.Use a paper clip or pen tip, press and hold until the screen goes black and it’ll reboot. The time will appear on the screen. Turn the radio on with the push knob and now I have sound
Reset button worked on the 2008 as well. Thank you!!

I have a 2013 Sportage that also has lost its sound 18 months ago. The reset button did not worked for me and neither did a hard reset. I refuse to take it to KIA because they will just say it needs replaced, as they did with a gear shift issue that they tried to blame on me until I videoed it happening on my phone and showed them. It is too bad that we have all paid good money for a line of vehicles that the dealerships cannot help with untrustworthy service.
I didn't see reset button reset button...
Thanks for all the advice. However, in my 2011 Sportage with the 6 shuttle CD Player it doesn’t seem to reset when I push the ‘button’ located on the right (sort of inside) the CD slot. Radio never goes black and reset even after holding it down for a minute. Also disconnected the battery with no luck. Is this the correct reset button?
Hi, my Kia Soul 2009 without Navy have the same problem. Do you know where is that Button .I can T see that . Thank you.
Went without sound for about 3 years on my 2013 Soul. All indicated a amp replacement after hard/soft....reset. After discovering an update to the software (originally 1.MP.9.011) did a search and discovered a new software! Downloaded it to a flash drive and HAVE SPEAKERS! Yay! Software is free, new one is 1.MP.9.013. Must have windows, exe. file, downloaded it to flash drive and problem solved!
Oh, P.S. the software was for the Sportage
I also have a 2012 Kia Sportage on my way work and noticed stereo didn’t work at all screen is all black.. tried everything still won’t work

I replaced my amplifier (963703w300) with another (96370-3W700) and everything works fine. I also couldn't find in my country a model anywhere (963703w300) and it's more expensive than (96370-3W700). This one cost me 170eur and old I found in other country for 380eur. Of course it is a used ampl. I am very happy because I thought only the same amplifier model would fit for my car, buuut noooot - the next generation amplifier fit perfectly!!!! My car is KIA Sportage 2011.

Also radio works and plays, no button works except POWER and TUNE knobs. There is no reset key on SIRIUS radio in my 2014 Sportage. I pressed the "RADIO" key and "TUNE" Knob simultaneously for more than 10 seconds. It did reset and went back to normal working condition.

I have a 2012 kia sportage, after my battery died & I Had it replaced, no sound comes out of my speakers. Radio works fine (turns on, connects to my phone, gets radio stations & shows what song is playing) just no sound comes out. Fuses all are fine (were checked twice). Research led me to think its the amp. Bought a used amp on eBay to replace and it still didn't fix it, neither did resetting the radio. Do I have any other options other than going to the dealer? Such an annoying expensive issue to have ugh
Omg after the new battery the car died again and it turns out its was the alternator not the battery so I got a new alternator and hey presto radio works fine now...
The reset button worked for me too! My 2013 sportage reset button is at the bottom of the radio under the right knob. Thanks!
