2012 Kia Soul losing acceleration intermittently

Asked by GuruLY8QZ Mar 26, 2019 at 09:26 PM about the 2012 Kia Soul +

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2012 Kia Soul that has an intermittent acceleration problem. On the
freeway, it will suddenly within seconds lose acceleration going down to about
30 or 40 miles per hour. I have taken it in twice to 2 different Kia service
departments. It doesn’t throw an error message and they have not been able
to reproduce the issue.  Has anyone else experienced this and does anyone
have a solution.

It has happened to me a couple of times, but only when i've had cruise control on. It wasnt a big enough issue for me to take it in so I don't have a solution for you, unfortunately.

It happened to me 2x. It was a misfire on cylinder #4. Now it happened again last night. I believe all my cylinders have blown out. I couldn't go over 30/35. Very scary.

My wife’s 2012 soul losing acceleration would stall or not start. Happened intermittently numerous times couldn’t figure out the issue. Finally replaced crankshaft position sensor. Solved all issues and runs like brand new.
