Mostly likely for better performance you would want to swap out transmission for different cylinder engine, jus the same if you were to swap for a v8 engine, you would upgrade the tranny as well. Not necessarily the bigger your engine, the bigger your gas bill, engine could possibly jus need injectors cleaned out, spark plugs, fuel filter, air filter maybe even an engine flush. It really depends how you utilize your vehicle's abilities and perfomance.

P.S your also going to have to upgrade radiator, and intake manifolds, and most likely several other essential parts, if you want to maintain the engine and vehicle lifespan. Best to agree with "MALLARD17"!!

the 2.5 4cyl does not bolt up to the 4.0 I6 You need: - PCM - Wiring harness - Radiator - Cooling fan - Radiator hoses - Motor mounts - Exhaust (I'm not sure if the stock 4 cyl exhaust down pipe bolts up to an I6 header or not) - Transfer case (you need a 23 spline input or an entire t-case from an I6) - Transmission (you need an I6 transmission. The 2.5 transmissions do not bolt up to the I6) - Driveshaft length modifications (potentially) all in all, not the best use of ur money.....also u have to know, u cant just get new motor mounts, u get new motor mounts, take OFF the old ones and WELD on the new ones....with precision if u want to take this thing wheelin', that 4.0 is a torque monster

Get the A-X 15 tranny and bell housing to mate. Replace motor mounts with those from a 4.0 YJ frame or TJ frame. Robb two injecter harnesses from 4.0 computer plug. Pin 38 for cylinder 5 pin 58 for cylinder 6. Add the two wires to bulk head weld on new brackets in new location .. included are new mount locations..
