Unlock the door with the key.. you should be able to start and drive the truck just fine as long as you have the proper key

If you can't there may be a procedure in the owners manual do disarm the security in the case of a dead battery in the FOB

Dodge Dakota 2000 So I lost my door key and only have the ignition key. The alarm system was going off in gas station parking lot, my mistake was reaching in window and opening door from inside without unlocking first. I tried everything to get it to stop including disconnecting the battery, but once reconnected it when off again, So I prayed while trying the ignition key in door lock, turned it to the right and alarm system went off. I'm grateful for the posts here and plan to have truck doors re-keyed as opening the doors with the key when alarm is going off is the solution to turn off the alarm system. My ignition key working this time was a miracle.

Put the key driver door and turn twice. That will disarm the alarm system. After that (if you have electronic issues) If it starts up and dies immediately. Turn the back and forth without starting until security light on dash goes out then she'll staying running. May have to try it 2 or 3 times. I've been dealing with a lot of issues for years. It had an aftermarket remote startup system and couldn't find a remote.

I have tried the door trick and the ignition trick I have the same problem as (Conway) I need to disarm alarm to drive truck and to reprogram new key fob, i do not have key fob but I changed all the door locks to aftermarket ones, the had no connections nothing, my ignition key also didn’t work on my original locks. Super stumped. Could it have something to do with the power lock actuator? I also heard that with a professional OBD2 scanner that you could disarm the alarm.

97 dodge dakota has a plastic alarm piece on the back of the passenger door lock. Take off the door panel, and remove the handle and the lock and turn the slot in the plastic alarm piece counter clockwise 1/4 turn and it turns off the alarm

Try snipping the wires off the back of the door lock sensor and twisting them together. Worked for our 98 Dodge Dakota.

Basically my truck would not run security alarm keep going off keep unhooking the battery unlocking the lock on the driver door nothing would work until tonight I got a wild idea to try the passenger door lock instead and soon as i did the alarm shut off, what made me try this a guy posted in this group the alarm mechanism is actually in the passenger door. It work for me after everything else I seen posted I tried everything nothing worked for me but this. Just close your doors and go to the passenger side used the key and lock and u lock the door alarm should cut off and you should be able the drive your dodge my truck is a 98 dodge dakota.

Don't listen to what any of the jive as joy joys say about the crank no start sitch. Period pull your passengers door open disassembled that b word and that little tiny itty bitty switch right there behind the key lock. Rip that mother father the funk out. But first you gotta manipulate it to the unlock position twice. Or was it the lock position. I don't remember I got so god darn excited to see that security light f turn off I almost shit myself. Literally I wouldn't have cussed if it was not true. After jagging around with that lil baby and the alarm stops or that light turns off for you proceed to carry yourself like an adult and gloat later as to your super powers of auto magic. It fells better to get payed on the back by someone else anyway. There you have it a secret that was not to be released I prolly just forked of the whole automotive industry ha ha fuck you anyway. 2000 Dodge Dakota sport and I know 99 Nissan Altima I am guessing a whole bunch more tell your friends or just utterly amaze them when you're batman light goes up
