Security system

Asked by BlackBetty246 Jun 19, 2011 at 12:18 PM about the 2002 Dodge Dakota

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hey all, need some help.
My last night someone tired to steal my dodge dakota truck, whoever attempt to isn't so smart. The truck realized it wasn't the key when they started it, so the security shut it all down. So my problem is that it wont turn over, even with the key. I would call the dealer ship, but since it's a sunday there not open.

If anyone has anyidea's i'll go for it!
Thank's so much

GuruVY74T how do I contact you cor information? My truck just randomly started going off and now the security flashes and it starts up but doesnt stay running. I was sitting inside the truck and opened my passenger side door when it went off. I have literally tried EVERYTHING on the internet and NOTHING works. I live in my truck and its freezing outside so I need to know how to fix this problem ASAP

Most likely not the original key your truck has a security system and the key your using isn’t programmed for that security chip

This an answer for myself? Or the main guy? The keys I have are the old style original keys for my 1997 dodge Dakota. Ive tried everything, including looking for the immobilizer.

It was for u @prettyblue you’ll need to find someone to reprogram the key or goto the dealer as long as your security light is blinking it’s locked u can also try to reset it not sure how to reset yours but on my 06 dodge Dakota I had a fuse called the pcm b+ I had to turn the vehicle to the on position take the fuse out and go in my truck close the door and fasten my seat belt the trucked chimed twice so I put the fuse back and I was good to go
