Engine Knocking when Revving and Copper Flakes in Oil Filter

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Just bought it two weeks ago and noticed the knock. Local repair place said I
need a new engine because of bearings being bad. Used engine with similar
miles for $10,000. Is it possible to get new bearings instead of a replacement
engine? There's no reason to think the replacement wouldn't have the same
problem right?

You would have to tear down the engine to replace all the crank bearings and the crank would have to be machined.

I would price a rebuild which I would hope could be done for well under 10 grand.
