Hey, I have a 2013 Ford Mustang. Recently I am
facing a problem with my Fuel Sender. The Fuel
gauge on the speedometer drops sometimes while
driving and then comes back to it's position after a
while.
The engine check light also turns on. The OBD
shows codes P0462: this code is for the Fuel
Sensor Circuit.

I have asked a mechanic and it will cost me about
$500 to buy a new fuel pump and repair it.
I just wanted to know is it safe to keep driving, as I
am short of budget right now.

I am leaving for a cross country road trip for about
4000 miles. Is it OK to drive to car, as I can
calculate my Fuel level by the no. Of miles driven
instead of relying on the fuel tank gauge?

Thank you so much for the response. The car is driven a lot. It's 90K miles. Do you recommend adding STP's fuel system or carburetor cleaner in the tank?

The 2013 mustang doesn't have a replaceable fuel filter
