I had a 2013 Ford Escape that the steering locked up going 55mph

Totaled my car as I ended up in a field, and thank God no one was hurt. Has
this happened to anyone else

The steering wheel can not just "lock up" with key in ignition,you can loose power steering if the engine shuts off.
