Hey @GuruYP7VF, Were you ever able to identify the root cause of this issue? I'm seeing the exact same behavior from my 2013 Escape. I've been to the dealership three times and an independent garage once and still have no idea what's going on.
I have a 2015 that does the same thing! 3 different dealerships have looked at it and everyone comes up with something else that doesn't fix it!

I have a 2015 escape that is doing the same exact thing and I have no idea what’s wrong with! Oil is good, transmission fluid is good, plenty of gas. I’ll stop at a red light and it starts making a vibrating sound from the back and then dies but will start right back after dying!
i have a 2014 and it has only done this twice now. and each time it has been after its been in for service. Has anyone figured out the problem yet? I am nervous to take it to the shop because i dont want to pay for them to find nothing wrong.
Yes I figured out the problem! It is within the evap system so basically the gas tank is getting air inside of it because the valve isn’t shutting off! Luckily my husband is a mechanic and was able to order my part and fix it for me! We had to replace the evavle sensor box and lines before it was fixed but it runs and drives perfect now! But it’s definitely within the evap system!
What part did your husband replace?
Has anybody determined which part was replaced? Having same issue with my 2015 Ford Escape.

Anyone know what part to replace? I'm having the same issue with my 2015 Escape.

I have a 2016 that I am having this issue with. I can’t find anything called an evap sensor box. Can you please clarify?

Anyone figure this out yet? My 2015 escape just started doing same thing. Mechanic says cant do anything unless check engine light comes on, which it doesnt. Thanks!
i am not exactly sure what is causing this issue but i do know that ours starts to sputter and dies occasionally when its starts humming. the humming for us is the gas flap where you fill the tank "there are 2 of them" when this happens if you stick you finger in there and open them both the tank suck in air and it clears up. this leads me to believe there is a vacuum created due to a clogged vent hose or emissions canister. my for f250 has a charcoal canister that helps to vent the tank when fumes build up due to the fuel sloshing around and evaporating. it is notorious for getting clogged and is a known issue. i would assume that this is going to be something similar considering both are fords.taking it in to the shop and will update when i know more.
I think the previous comment is on to something! My escape was humming as well and when I went to get gas, it sounded like a bunch of air left my gas canister! As if I had managed to pressurize my gas can. So if vibrating, go shove your finger down the gas can flap and see if it still has problems. I know my problem may come from the fact that I need to change my purge valve. I believe it is causing my car to struggle starting and these vibrations now too. So I’d say a good part to replace if looking to make a relatively cheap repair is to replace your purge valve! At least start there cause those are pretty cheap.
