radio/amp
Radio stop working after installing new alternator.
No sound from speakers we have 2002 dodge
intrepip with factory installed radio 22/10 pin. We
thought that was the problem so we purchased a
new one only to out more money and still no
working radio. So my question could there be an
external amp separate from the radio somewhere
in the car. Or do you have some other suggestions

Check the voltage the alternator is putting out. Measure the voltage at the battery engine running. It should be around 14.6 volts plus or minus a few tenths. If the voltages is high, like 17 or 18, some radios will not turn on. Not saying this is your problem, but I would eliminate it before spending more money and just throwing parts at it..

also, check fuses and relays. sometimes messing with the electrical system can blow a fuse.
If you unhooked the battery when working on the alternator you may have blown the fuse to your factory amplifier so check the fuse and if its good you probably fried your amp like I did... Oh and if you ever have to unhook your battery for any reason FIRST pull the fuse for the amp... Located in the fuse panel left driver side.
i have a 2000 dodge intrepid i put new battery in and radio stop working i think its the amp but i cant find the amp if there is 1 and i dont see any fuse in the fuse box that says amp i have bought 2 differant stock radios and still not working
