2013 Taurus no heat for 10 min

Asked by WJR01 Dec 17, 2019 at 12:14 PM about the 2013 Ford Taurus Limited AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2013 Taurus Limited has started blowing cold air for the first 10 minutes of
driving when about 30 degrees outside. Typically just takes a minute or two to
get some heat. Engine is heating up fine as indicated by the temp gauge.
Coolant level is fine. Heat works fine after the initial 10 minute period. Any
suggestions?

Problem was the water pump. Must have been starting to degrade when symptoms first appeared, pump began leaking about a week after the above problem took place.
