xc90 ac fan in auto not going to high speed then coming down slowly

Asked by Guru92YBDX Aug 31, 2022 at 12:35 AM about the 2013 Volvo XC90 3.2 FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

AC works fine in man mode, put it in auto mode and fan speed goes to the lowest setting and cool air comes out, you can manually turn fan up, works great. go back to auto mode and fan speed is at lowest setting, turn controls to 60 in auto mode, and fan goes to high. All my other volvo's, fan comes on high on hot days then gradually comes down to lower fan speed., once car is cooled off inside. Help

Sounds like a problem with one of the temperature sensors or possibly the control panel. Unfortunately with something like this it really needs to be diagnosed by a pro. The important thing is that wherever you take it they have the proper tools and a tech who is familiar with the system. It's costly but my suggestion is your local Volvo Dealer. Hope that helps! Jim
