When should I change the transmission fluid in my Lincoln MKX

Your owners manual will give you the recommended schedule. You may have a maintenance book as well with the service schedule. I would not go farther than 50,000 miles but if you drive it hard I would change it more often. If the fluid changes color or smells burnt then change it and the filter immediately.

The fluid cannot be changed like other AT. Only half of the oil can be drained and the filter is not accessible. Must take to a dealer to do the job right.

Owners manual states every 240000 Kms./150K miles. From what I've read, should be done more frequently. The MKX has a transmission drain plug that you can remove and drain the fluid. You'll need to drain it, drive it/shift gears and repeat the process 2 or 3 times to get out a good portion of the old fluid. A dealer may have a machine that cycles out the oil and puts in new that is more efficient, but it's likely going to cost you more and the difference may be negligible.

I 2008 mkx thats in the shop geting the trans looked at they said it needed replaced. I do how ever have a extended warrenty on it which they are questing me on the maintance on tranny i brought the car used it had around 105,0000 miles on it it has about 137.000 ob it now
