Even if it fits there's a ton of other things that have to be done. Like the ECU. Exhaust. Emissions. Linkage. And so on. It's no like the old days when could put in the engine of your choice over the weekend.
I was not considering an OLD style 318 or 360 . I was considering a 318 or 360 from a 2001 or 2002 Dakota .
your best bet would be to find a donor vehicle, because you will have to swap all electronics, wiring, transmission, etc. and that is using a magnum 318 or 360.
I agree with madmopar! Find a donor vehicle, something that may have been rolled or rear-ended and grab as much wiring as possible. Everything should fit as the space is the same and you may be able to use the present transmission, but you need to either talk to your friendly mechanic or pick up a Chilton manual for that particular model vehicle. I plan to put a 5.9 or 6.2 liter engine in my 2002 Dakota 4x4 along with an 8 spd auto. Have to see how the process works out. Good Luck and keep us posted on your process
I have a 2001 Dakota 4.7 that has whipped 5 Ram trucks with 5.7 hemi.My truck weighs less but big trucks pick on my little truck. When I get a Chip n Tune, will have Nascar speed machine.lol
ecu and emissions aside- you are not a gearhead- just a part installer- fuck your chips- put a blower on it
