I have a 2001 dodge Dakota with a blown up 3.9l can I put a 3.9l from a 92 Dakota in the 01 or is it to big of a difference in years

It should just drop right in. The engine block and heads are the same. The challenge will be swapping all the newer upper end parts like most of the electrical wiring and sensors, the air filter assembly, ect onto the old engine.
