does the active grill shutter control whether the car goes in gear or not?

My car will not go into gear.  The notice said to service transmission.   The
dealer is telling me this is due to a crack in the active grill shutter,  Is this true?

2015 had a recall for a plastic fitting that is part of the shift linkage. if it breaks you can't shift.

Same as Larry. There is a recall for shift linkage that if popped off will not let you shift into gears. Active shutter grill is only to maintain airflow through your grill and has nothing to do with the transmission or shifter
