I have a 2001 Durango. The AC/Heater fan switch only works on high and not the first three. What is the cause?

The fan does not operate on the first three settings. It only operates on the last setting.

Your resistor needs to replaced and usually the plug that goes in it as well. You can get a pigtail that you wire in to the harness after you cut off the old plug. The resistor is placed on the passenger side under the dash next to the fan motor.

I have an 03 R/T and I've replaced this part about once a year. The cable is fried or melted. I found that not turning the fan all the way up keeps it working longer. Is this a fla that I can't fix, or maybe an electric issue?
