2001 Dodge Durango key lost

I have lost my only key to my 2001 Durango. Can I
jus switch out ignitions or the tumbler where the
key goes?

No. 2001 is the first year Durangos used a transponder key. Your best bet is to get a quote from either a local auto locksmith that can replace keys when no key is present or go back to the dealership. Some programming will be necessary. Most locksmiths offer mobile services. If you just rip out and replace the old ignition and start using a different chipped key, your anti theft and immobilizer will activate.
