2013 Altima 3.5 SL ac issue

Asked by AutoPilot Aug 28, 2024 at 08:35 AM about the 2013 Nissan Altima 3.5 SL

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Installed new compressor and AC still not working. It was determined that the
solenoid on the clutch is not activating. Did an ipdm diagnostic test and the
solenoid was clicking in five times. It appears there must be some type of issue
between the ipdm and the dash controls. It has climate control if that matters. I
have tried every different setting on the climate control and cannot get the
compressor to engage. Has anyone run into this issue before? Thank you in
advance

Yes. The HVAV computer needed a complete reset. The dealer or most good independent shops can do this.

I tested the IPDM myself. On the Nissans the relays are intergrated with this computer. It was working fine.Since it was sending a signal to the compressor clutch I dug a little deeper. I then located the high-low pressure sensor. I removed the connector to test for the 5v reading at the switch and found the green wire was broken.I took on the tedious job of splicing the wire at the connector and now it is working. I am still a little nervous because the original symptoms were intermittent ac function, and not that confident that this broken # 26 wire would have caused that issue. At least it's blowing really cold right now.
