EPC light is flashing and there is a sound associated with it each time light goes on. Can only describe it as the way a bike chain sounds.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Engine light is solid.  EPC light flashes when car is just starting up or accelerating at slow speeds.  Car is sluggish.  Have read online about these issues but didn't read anything about sound I'm hearing.  Could it have anything to do with timing chain?  At my last visit was told that it was stretching and would eventually need to be replaced although they couldn't tell me how long it would last.  Concerned about how safe it is to drive car to dealer.

if you are hearing bike chain sounds you need to stop driving the car and have the timing chain looked at. they don't normaly do this and depending on how old your car is you might be able to have warrenty cover it as a defective part but if the car is over 120,000 km they may or may not do that. other wise your looking at close to 1500$ to replace the parts associated with the timing chain.
