Question type: Shopping & Pricing

Need new starter. Cost is pretty darn high. The labor is at 1.5 hours at $89.00 an hour. How long should it take to change the starter out?

I'm not being a smart ass ...but ...anyone who can use a wrench even with minimum mechanic abilities can perform this in the span of 2 hours. It is only 2 bolts & two wires. AND ...it will NOT go in wrong! It is fool proof. Yes indeed ...it is in an inconvenient spot & can be easier if approached from under the van. Bring up a schematic on the net or an instructional video on YouTube & save yourself $100.! You can also save a few more bucks by buying a rebuilt starter for approximately half the price as well. It will likely last as long as a 2000 van is going to anyway ...so save the money is my recommendation. This is a user friendly procedure. Please remember to disconnect the battery. Hope this helps. I've included a link to a pretty good instructional video ...it is for a 2002 ...but there is no difference. Cut & paste into your search box. ...Jim https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B_d0htodKzM
