When your check engine light comes on, it disable your ABS and cruise control. Get your codes scanned and repair the problem. I'll bet a quarter it's either an O2 sensor or catalytic converter.

This could be anything, wheel speed sensors, EBCS computer, wiring, your best bet is to find a good independent shop with good reviews and have them run live data scan on the vehicle and let you know what they found and go from there. Brace yourself cause at todays shop rates it won’t be cheap even at an independent shop.
