2013 Subarau Outback-Engine replacement-re-DO!
I am hoping F_O_R will see this question as I see he/she has lots of great advice--I found this post from searching online:No oil/blown motor; rebuilt or repair? at which you answered:If Corporate Subaru told you that they have no control over dealership work then they are LYING. A Subaru dealer ruined my new engine (scored cylinders, oil pump, bearings etc, etc. ) and I got an actual new engine out of the deal as well as compensation over the HELL this dealer put me through. I also got a 100,000 mile extended warranty but I did have to play hard ball with the corporate guys. --
---My 2013 Subaru had to have the engine replaced due to the same issue--was out of town on vacation. Took it to the nearest Subaru Dealership, was told they would install a New Short Block, new cylinder heads and all new components. Got My Subaru back, drive less than 400 miles, and had complete engine failure while on the highway at 60mph--piston compression failure. Had to have it towed to my local Subaru dealership on 9/5/2017 where they examine and told me that unfortunately new engine parts were not installed-parts were filed down, obviously used/rebuilt and I had was told and the entire engine needed to be rebuilt. My Local Subaru is installing all new parts/components for my engine at no expense to me--I finally get my car back tomorrow, (34 days later) but I feel due to the misrepresentation and faulty repairs by first Subaru Dealer and now 2 engines installed in my Outback, my resale value has plummeted and while I may want to keep my car, I feel a little uneasy--I have been in contact with SOA they have offered me at this point as "goodwill" is $1500 towards the purchase of a brand new Subaru. I feel a better option is at least an extended 100K warranty--any advice? My car has 60K at time of engine replacement--Sale, trade, keep with warranty?
