very high idle at start up

Asked by Donald Apr 16, 2019 at 02:45 PM about the 2004 Ford Ranger 4 Dr Edge 4WD Extended Cab SB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2004 4x4 ranger 4.0 idles to 2300 rpm at start cold and hot , then drops to
1500, and then slowly to 900. What causes this? I changed the MAF sensor.
could it be a temp sensor?

1 Answer

Could be a vacuum leak or a bad idle control valve.
