2000 Durango wont go to 3rd gear

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
Just bought a 2000 Durango slt 5.9. Ran pretty good the first week
then started not wanting to switch gears. Went ahead and changed
oil, transmission filter/fluid, wires, plugs, pcv, speed sensors. It is
running smoother but still wont shift. Goes into 1, 2 and then when
you try to get it into 3rd it goes to neutral. When you take off like
you're at a drag strip it will go through them. Also replaced the
throttle position sensor but it made it idle higher. Any suggestions
on what else it might be?

Your tork coverter is going bad. Time to rebuild the trans. What color was the fluid when you changedit. If it was black and burnt that means the fluid is flashed once it is at that point it is to late for the fluid change. Like tom said the converter is not building the right preasure and 3rd gear band is probly shot
ecm maybe going out and the timeing is not right so it will not shift right
Just so happens I was having all these same problems the transmission is going out it won't be long before you're on the side of the road it also just happens that I have a transmission that will fit your Durango it is been completely rebuilt and a brand new torque converter to go along with it the vehicle I had the same problems in I totaled out two weeks after the transmission was rebuilt my phone number is 540 537 9812 my name is Lawrence if you're interested in purchasing just rebuilt transmission give me a call I paid 1800 dollars to get it rebuilt will take 900 if you're interested give me a call the transmission came out of Dodge 2000 Rt with the 360 as long as your Durango has the 360 this transmission will fit
I have a 99 dodge Durango that has a hard time going into third gear for ten years and it hasn't stopped yet so don't believe all these jokers
These guys are dumb asses. It only will do it when it rains. Transmission control module and wind shield cowl. Hey the new up to date one. U drop it to first or 2nd it instantly shifts to 2. Put it in drive it stays in 3rd even after u stop amd go
