I have a 2000 4 wheel drive 5.4 liter motor in it and it will not go into reverse. It is running fine otherwise, what could this be?

First you either have the 4,7 the 5,2 or the 5,9 l engine in the 2000 Durango but that is not relevant. If the shift lever goes into R and nothing happens it sounds like you need a tranny rebuild. Take it to a tranny shop you trust or get a friend to recommend a good tranny shop.
