When should you use your eco button. On the highway or while you are driving in town.

Why does my 2010 equinox chug when I have the ECO on

My 2011 Equinox normally runs fine with ECO on. Today it is 10 degrees outside and it stalled at intersections about 20 seconds after I came to a stop. Then when I restarted it it chugged as I was accelerating. I turned ECO off and it ran normal. So I'm assuming, when in ECO the computer program sets the idle RPM too low for that temp.

For my 2015 Ekinox, I drove for 3 years with ECO off all the times. Mine is a 2.4 Litre L4 and gas consumption was very good for me anyway. I left the traction control ON all the times. If anyone can suggest a better use of ECO and Traction control, please inform.

I just bought an 2010 Equinox, when I turn on "Eco Mode" I get a Check Engine Light, Traction Control Light and the Dashboard gauges start freaking out and rev goes up and down... Any ideas ? (this just happens when I turn on Eco mode)

Many of us agreed that use the "Eco off" mode all the time. Mine is a 2.4 Litre L4.

I have just recently figured out that the ECO button also controls the force of the air being blown out on your AC as well. Was beginning to wonder why my AC didn’t blow quite as hard as I’d like. Turned ECO off and it gets frigid in here now!

GuruYC4XW- the egg smell is a catalytic converters issue.

eco - off and traction control - on. If you accelerate gradually, eco off consumes very slight more gas. advantage is that you gain better performance when you need the pass etc... traction on is for all conditions and even it's on and no harm done if you don't need it.
