Is taking my thermostat out of my car a good or bad idea.
My car keeps overheating

a bad idea...the best reason for a thermostate is to allow the engine to heat up/come to operating temp..faster ! so anywy..have you or will you flush the cooling system,refill AND BLEED THE AIR OUT OF THE SYSTEM ALSO..

you can also drill 2-3 little holes in the new one...to help get the air out....

and add a bottle of WATER WETTER to the system...
