My 2000 dodge neon tries to start then a loud pop what is it

I turn the key over and it tries to turn over
and a loud pop noise but it still tries to turn
over need help

Sounds like your timing if off....Timing belt may have slipped

That's what I was thinking and now it's leaking antifreeze from the pump to the power steering was messed up and she keep driving is there a easy way to check the timing
