Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My car check engine light came on and started
flashing. I took it to autozone and was told it was a
misfire code and o2 sensor code. There was mechanic
that worked at autozone who stated that he would
change my spark plugs and o2 sensor. We'll, I gave the
job to him. When he got finished and I started my car
the RPMs started going up on it's own and car
sounded rough and it was not doing that before he
started working on it. Not sure why but he took my
throttle body out and said that he was going to clean it.
After he did that, my car was really acting up when you
start it. He then did a other check engine light check
and there were now new codes that appeared
concerning the throttle and my car was really doing
some strange things at this point. Now, there are 6
codes. The same 2 codes that originally was there
P0300 and PO131 on top of new codes P2172, PO171,
P2097, and P113D that was not there before he started
working on the vehicle. Car is a 2013 Jeep Grand
Cherokee Laredo 6 cylinder. Any advice?

A flashing check engine light is telling you the engine is misfiring (P0300, random/multicylinder misfire) and damaging the catalytic converter. Replacing the spark plugs MAY have fixed it. But obviously in your case it didn't. Just replacing the spark plugs shouldn't have caused all the other issues if the guy knew what he was doing. At this point your best bet is to take the vehicle to an actual repair shop to be fixed. The guy messed something up. Jim
