2013 Jeep grand Cherokee a.c. making nosies

My 2013 Jeep grand Cherokee has about 45,000
miles on it .. the ac staring making hissing nosies
until the a.c. stopped working all together and was
blowing heat .. I brought it to a local mechanic he
told me right away it was the a.c. evaporator cord
and only the dealership can fix it because it's a 8
hour job ... the head of the service department at
the dealership said in his whole career he has
never had a a.c. cord go bad so he recharged the
a.c. and it has been working for almost 4 days now
but it's making a strange noise again .. I need some
guidance here..
