What is going on?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I have replaced the blinker as is started
blinking rapidly. I replaced it 4 times within
a month before looking for further answers.
After replacing the bulb, it will work for
about a week. If I take the bulb out, grease
it and put it back, it'll work for a few days.
It only does it on the passanger side. I had
it looked at today, the fuse isn't blown, no
other lights are out, just the blinker... It
seems to stop working when I hit bumps.
The only way it'll blink again(for a day or
two), is if I take the bulb out and put a new
one in or just put the same one back in.
Does this sound like a short? Do I maybe
need a new headlight?

Check the bulb socket for corrosion.

When a light starts blinking fast it is the turn signal switcher under the dash.round silver tube like deal get a new one it just plugs in
I have same proble, same car. Did you find out what the problem was?
I have the same Kia forte 2010 & my passenger side blinker is out right now for the 4th time... I'm going to replace it AGAIN.. no sign of corrosion or blown fuses everything looks fine it's just when I hit bumps man is this a huge problem they need to make it a recall.
I also I'm having the same problem placing the balls continuously passenger side brake lights out this seems like it needs a recall
I have the same problem with my Kia forte. The passenger side front flasher is out again. 2x in 10 days. Do I need a better quality bulb?
I suspect it may be the turn signal switch. $80.00 at O reilly.we will see.
Take bulb out of socket and bend the tabs up in the socket. They are weak and grounding each other crazy bulb to blow try that
I think this helped my issue ... thanks!!
i have the same problem. Passenger side and keep replacing bulb. Kia service dept wanted over a $100 to just look at it to tell me what is wrong not counting the parts and labor. I don't have $300 to spend on a blinker. I am a female and take care of everything myself like replacing the cabin filter and air filter after googleing it. Kia charge me over $200 to do both along with an oil change. I'm tired of being ripped off once you get a car paid off. I will try the suggestions and do it myself. Thank everyone so much for the help!
Had/Have the same issue. It's NOT the bulb itself, most likely. I replaced the bulb once before realizing it wasn't really blown. Tried taking the bulb up, bent the contacts up a little bit as suggested.. and it would work for a week or two. Cleaned all the contact points with alcohol. Same. The last thing I did was replace the bulb socket assembly.. and things were good for about 3 months. Then, the other morning, the problem came back. This should be a recall item, as I believe it's a design flaw using these tiny contact points instead of wired connectors. I can't be digging in behind my light assembly every couple weeks. That's insane. And it's obvious this is a common issue. I'm seeing people reporting this all over the place. Do I need to replace the entire passenger side light assembly next?!
4 months ago I switched the regular flasher bulbs to LED. No blowout since. Unfortunately, LEDs have almost no internal resistance. Consequently, the flasher blinks at 2x the frequency. I'll live with that.
My bulb is fine and it will intermittently work. Would this by any chance be a electrical system error? I bring this up because at the moment it's happening on the driver side but every once in a while it happens on the passenger side. Eventually, the fuse on that side will burn out for the windows.
I have a 2014 forte, driver side blinker went out, didn't think twice and just got new bulbs. Come to find out it's not the bulb. Everything is good but it still doesn't work. Front driver side is all. There is no corrosion or bent tabs.. can anyone help?
@TE503 I had a similar issue. I put in a new bulb and noticed it didn’t work and the tabs were fine. The issue ended up being the turn signal socket. It would get loose.
Hctr. So did u have to get a hole light being the socket is built in?
No I didn’t replace the light. I have a feeling I might have to change it.

I have a 2013 Optima and have had issues with my rear directionals intermittently not working since I bought the car at 25,000 miles, both sides but only 1 at a time seems to go out. I get the quick flashing warning on dash. If I wiggle the wires, they work. It's like the wires are too loose by design. So, silly question lol- have you tried simply wiggling your wires?
I also have the same exact issue. Pax side front turn signal doesn't work and rear and mirror bulbs blink rapidly. Occasionally it will slow down and blink at regular speed for a few seconds before going back. I'm going to try to bend the tabs and see if that helps.
I’m having the same problem with my 2012 forte drivers side signal. Will it help if I replace the entire light?

I have same issue I bent the tabs up. Turn the blinker on as you are inserting the socket you’ll find it lights up at a certain point. I believe the rubber washer around the socket is compressed and not holding the socket properly in place. It will probably loosen up after a good pothole. I think there needs to be a thicker washer to really hold the socket in place.
