1999 Avenger radio placement

Asked by Stapla Aug 18, 2009 at 12:19 PM about the 1999 Dodge Avenger ES FWD

Question type: Car Customization

I was wondering if there was really anything that could be done about the radio placement?

It's horrible and difficult to access while driving. Has anyone found a way around this?

I was wondering if it was possible to get an after market radio and new steering wheel with radio controls on it.

there is 1 thing that you can do. find a 1995-99 Mitsubishi eclipse. doesn't matter if it's a RS, RS, GS-T, or GSX as long as it is the same transmission as your avenger. so if you have an Automatic Avenger, you need to find an Automatic Eclipse. only the years 1995 through 1999. no sooner or later. the center console is basically the same with the exception that the radio is up higher, and and a slight upward angle. this makes it much easier to reach. so just take out the Avenger center console and put in the Eclipse console. if you have a stock radio, then you will also have to swap the eclipse radio into your avenger. hope this helps.
