My 2013 Ford Focus Automatic doesn't go into reverse. What can it be?

I was at a stop light, as I turned the car jerked hard, engine light cam on. Stopped across
the street to check car. Turned car off. Started it back up, tried put into reverse. NO

I had to jumpstart my 2014 Ford Focus and now it had no reverse
I just got off wk, went to back up and NO REVERSE!!!! My engine light is on and when I put it in reverse the “rear park aid” show with an “on”. I’ve tried switching it to off just to see it would help No help, I still can’t back up! I wonder if wk would pay me OT for sitting in the parking lot?
I just went to “system check” and it shows “all systems normal” ; yet, I still can’t back up.
2013 Ford Focus transmission overheated on highway. Had to get towed. No reverse too?
