Throttle body/high idle
Asked by AntCrisp Apr 27, 2019 at 06:04 PM about the 2013 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LT Extended Cab RWD
Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I just took my throttle body assembly off to clean it. Gave
everything plenty of time to dry before putting everything
back on. Went to start it back up, and it hesitated for just a
second then turned over. Now it starts fine but it has a very
elevated idle. Like 1700 rpm or so. Any ideas? Please help

I would suspect a vacuum leak.

Idle speed and throttle position are learned by the computer to achieve the desired rpm.. when you clean the throttle body without resetting keep alive memory the computer can have these issues until it learns new data.. this can require driving the car
Even with it idling that high? Is there a way to relearn the computer or something?

Yeah if you have a scantool that can perform this function
