Computer problems

Asked by rnoble5149 Oct 25, 2012 at 08:48 PM about the 1999 Dodge Dakota SLT Club Cab RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I bought a 99 dodge dakota with a dead 3.9 and replaced with a 5.2 from a 98 dodge dakota with the 8 cyl. computer it will not start. With 6 cyl. computer it runs but seems to be running only on 6 cyl. If I get a computer out of a 99 dakota 5.2  and install will  that solve my problem

It should. You probably shouldnt start the engine with the 6 cyl computer still on it with a 8 cyl under the hood because it might screw up the engine. But if you get a 8 cyl computer, it should solve your problems. Look around your local junkyard, you should find one for pretty cheap (but make sure its still in good condition first)
