Dakota engine swap

I have a 1999 dodge dakota it has a 3.7l v6 manual
and i want to put in the 5.7l v8 but was wondering
if i cud keep the same trans? Any suggestions?

A lot of people ask the very similar question, and I have to first ask, why? It would almost be easier to buy another Dakota, R/T and you would already have everything setup. The engine swap will require a different trany, different radiator, different ABS, different brains box, and probably a lot of wiring harness changes.

Well i want to keep my truck becuse i have a lift and other upgrads so thats why but thank you

i have a 1991 dodge dakota 318 also a `1989 ford ranger both are automatic can i put the dodge in the ford both are automatic and 4x4
