Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Was driving this truck today, drove fine, gave no indication of anything going out, came to a stop sign and the
engine died, thinking it was out of gas even though the gauge read 1/2 tank i put a few gallons in from my gas jug,
still nothing, poured a tiny amount into the throttle body and it fired up but died a few seconds later, i checked for
fuel pressure at the fuel rail test port, nothing. Could this be the ASD relay? i should mention the previous owner
had got into 2 accidents with this vehicle, im hoping its not the fuel pump itself hoping its a smaller cheaper fix

Probably not the ASD relay because it shuts down the ignition system as well. The ASD relay will also shut down if there is a problem with or a defective signal from the crankshaft position sensor. There are some tests you can do to troubleshoot the ASD, but they are very inexpensive. Its worth just changing it. Also you SHOULD get a fault code from PCM if relay is bad. I believe that terminal 30 on ASD is power to pump. ......do you have the following configuration on relay? _85 _87a l 87 l 30 _86

it does have that setup, even with a jumper wire no juice to the pump so i guess its that time to buy a pump swap it out

Yes if your saying you had power to pump and it didn't run time for a pump. The nice thing about changing a pump is that once its done you don't have to worry about it for a long time.
