Does my 99 dakota sport have a fuel filter?

If you can't find an inline filter then the filter is part of the fuel pump in the fuel tank. You can add an inline filter if you'd like.
Vehicle that old should have one. follow the fuel lines along the rail if there is one it should be on the frame rail somewhere. If it didnt come fromt the factory with one then it was designed to run without one, adding one sure wont hurt anything but doesnt seem neccesary most new vehicles just use the strainer on the pump in the tank and do fine.

I just spoke with the dealership for my '99 Dodge Dakota SLT with the 5.2L engine, and there is no inline fuel filter. It only has the filter at the fuel pump.
