Not to worry. Find an old carburetor guy who can open up the top of the carb and set the "accelerator pumps" richer to squirt out more gas when you floor it. With the motor idling you should see gas being squirted down into the carb when you pump the gas. It just needs more gas. You know that GTO takes a big gulp of air, and that air needs to quickly mix with gas to get power. The "power jets" further down below don't respond quickly because they need a huge flow of air to suck gas do into the intake. You can probably do it yourself trial and error and you will know when you get it right....that GTO will scream! I bet you can do it yourself, having rebuilt the carb and all. Good Luck my friend.
Thank you I give it a shot
