The flashing OD light is an indication that the transmission is overheating and there are trouble codes present. It does sound like it's time to rebuild or replace it, but have a transmission expert check it out.

Dude seriously? C'mon anything else .... it cant be a temp sensor or pcm or tcm or something that doesn't cost a crap ton of money ? Please

Also so you know when that happened when my truck broke down i had it towed to work the next day. I got in and the truck started driving and shifting. Reverse now has a load whining noise but drives. I have not tried driving on the road yet.
