I had same problem car just dies while driving, would have to sit for a while then is would start again, I had to replace the main computer under the hood on the left side, it gets to hot then car dies when car dies put a cold ice pack on the computer and let it cool down the unit see if car will start when cools.
I have a 1999 Dodge Durango 4x4 5.2L and I just went through the same thing with my truck. I felt it wanting to downshift, holding back while driving, like something was sticking. Check engine light would come on and go off. I knew something wasn't right with it. About a week ago I went to my son's school where I had to wait with the truck running for about 20 minutes and it died. Gauge's wouldn't work and odometer read "no bus". I had it towed to my shop and ordered a new PCM for it. The shop put it in and so far my trucks been running like it's new again. I have 208,000 miles on it.
Elf is getting to hot due to bad placement solder melts inside get a remanufactured one at a wrecking yard for 50 bucks makes sure it's labeled remanufactured then put a heat pad in front of it double stove pipe cut to fit works great. This is a deadly fault of dodges design as brakes and steering go to. Co 1999 no bus on line you'll see the horror stories. Just waiting for someone to die then a class action suit start I'll be first on t he list as it did it to me and I hit a tree!
