Installing a 289 in my 1965 Mustang

Asked by Phil1965 Oct 22, 2019 at 10:08 PM about the 1965 Ford Mustang Coupe

Question type: Car Customization

I have a 1965 Mustang coupe. My Mustang
has a 3 speed manual transmission with a
straight 6 200 engine. I want to install a 289
engine in it but the 289 engine originally had
an automatic transmission. Will this be an
issue? And do I need to modify anything to
install it?

No. Just get all the right mounts. You may need a different bell housing for the transmission but I am not sure.
