I have an original Hangover 65 A-code mustang, it was built on Jan. 2nd,1965, hence the term hangover. Can someone please answer me why no 289 and Mustang emblem was put on the car 65A M 26 02A 84 1 6
Asked by gulfcoastmustangcars... Oct 01, 2014 at 12:57 AM about the 1965 Ford Mustang Coupe RWD
Question type: General
The 65 Mustang I'm describing has the Factory carpet that does not go all the way up to the doors, like a 64 1/2. It has a lot of Factory goody options, such as Factory AC, Tinted windows, Console, Rally-Pac, Handling Package with the Bigger Front Sway Bar, Close ratio steering Box, Front Disc Brakes, The Big Brake Master Cylinder, Disc on the Brake Petal, Heavy Duty Coils and Shocks, Dual exhaust. It does not have any Factory side markings, No 289 emblem, No Mustang emblem, No Quarter Panel Ornaments, No Front or Rear Bumper Guards. It just looks like a Factory Sleeker. The Door code is 65A M 26 02A 84 1 6. Can anyone tell me what special kind of Mustang this is... If any..???? Does the "84" have anything to do with it being this way...??? Thanks.

gulfcoastmustangcars it is a 65...1st 65A- 64.5 or 65 2nd M- Wimbledon white 3rd 26- thats your trim 64.5 had trim codes for 42-89. 65 had 22-68, and thats what makes it a 1965...the 84- is your DSO or domestic special order/ district code, where they shipped car to the dealer...84??????Home Office Reserve, very cool 11-90 where diff. citys they shipped them to. mine is a 43 Rockford il. The reason you dont have 289 emblems on it , is because the 1-is the gear ratio 3.00:1 and the 6-is the trans C-4...witch i believe was a 260 v8 the 5th digit on your vin# will tell the engine code..V-170 I6,T-200 I6, F-260 V8, C-289 2V, A-289 4V, D-289 4Vplus, K-289 HIPO hope this helps

There are no mustang emblems on the grill, (no horse), no F. O. R. D. on the edge of the hood, no mustang emblems on the side of the car, no side emblems on the rear quarters.... Also has a hard top chrome trim, with a white painted roof and a white painted body... The only place it says mustang is the gas cap that has a cable that's bolted to the back... Also, a lot of options... maybe a 65GT proto-type... very sleeker looking car, never have seen one like this one before...?????

The car is all original, it's a factory A-code, even has the 4100 factory 4B carb. It looks like a Factory GT but has no fog lights, no emblems of any kind. Was built on Jan 2nd, to early to be a Factory GT but has all the special options.... Maybe a Ford Exec had some special reason for ordering the car this way,,,????

"65 Red & White (Luxury) ... F5 White w/Red Trim (Luxury)" @rst429: Trim code 65 = RED (only) - there's no white at all Trim code F5 = WHITE (Parchment) with RED trim. Seats are ALL WHITE. Just sayin'...
