just put it in "D". the transmission will handle all the shifting for you. that's what an automatic does.

If you are asking about the T-case gears you use 2WD on paved or concrete roads, 4WD hi on snow, ice or loose material like gravel or mud roads, 4WD lo on same surfaces as hi but if you are towing hevy trailer or going up a steap hill. You have to be at standstill and have the tranny in neutral to get it in 4 low. Never ever use 4WD on paved, concrete roads unless you have snow or ice on them, if you do you will damage the 4WD system.
