Dealership

10

Asked by iphoneken1 Mar 14, 2019 at 08:53 PM about the 2013 BMW 7 Series 750i xDrive AWD

Question type: General

Could use some feedback... while making my
drive home from buying my used car, 111
miles from dealership and 41 miles away
from home, I get “Drivetrain Malfunction
Drive Moderately to nearest service center”
warning.  Dealer states to get it checked out
in my area and they would do whatever is
necessary.  After diagnostic... Misfires of 2
cylinders (coils need replacing), spark plugs
corroded, warning to replace battery and
twin turbo lines are leaking and require fixing.
I am told from dealer that I purchased the
vehicle, they will not cover the battery or
leaks because they are wear and tear issues
and I’m responsible for that.
Recommendations?

Spark plugs and coils are common failures on this vehicle, as are the turbo coolant lines. The dealer should have corrected those issues before selling the car to you. I would offer the dealer 2 options, give them the opportunity to pay for the drivetrain errors and split the costs of the leaks/battery, or return the vehicle for an Unwind. If you mention unwinding the deal they will probably jump at the chance to fork over 700-900 to correct the lack of maintenance repairs they should have performed..

I agree with DR motors, you need to take it back to dealership to correct. You could also try mentioning contacting the attorney generals office and see what happens. Good luck

Good Day DR motors & Title_Reguru, Thank you very much for the insight. I have spoken with the dealer. They have agreed to pick the BMW up in NY, bring it to CT and see what the problems are. When I questioned what issues they will fix, they stated “they need check the vehicle and will fix what’s needed.” I sent them all a copy of Connecticut’s Lemon Law requirements. I’m hopeful to hear something this coming week. I am not allowed to return the vehicle for refund or dispute mechanical claims however they are required to cover all parts and labor for the vehicle to mechanically function sound for 60 days... see link. https://www.cga.ct.gov/2005/rpt/2005-r- 0871.htm Thanks again.
