Back Flushing heater core

Asked by Bill1997dakota Jan 06, 2010 at 02:51 PM about the 1997 Dodge Dakota SLT Club Cab RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Could someone give me the proceedures and parts needed for back flushing the heater core using the garden hose method.

Then here is the question: Could I reverse flow the heater core by switching the inlet and outlet hoses at the firewall? If .... If this can be done without damage to parts or vehicle,  Is this method as effective as the garden hose method?

Thanks
Bill

Switching the hoses will do nothing to remove the junk causing the blockage Pull off both hoses at the fire wall, twist and pull carefully so you don't damage the nipples. Alternate sides until the water comes out clean
